Narrator

Blood Traces - On an inland palm tree, there’s a small but noticeable amount of blood. It’s not very high up, and only a few drops of a trail lead away from it westward.
Pair of Footprint Trails - Two sets of footprints along the eastern shore, occasionally dipping into the water. The print detail has faded, but they’re clearly from two different people. There’s no sign of running or any other odd movement along this stretch.
Shed Fur - A semi-pile semi-halo of fluffy white fur. Enough to notice, but not enough to be mistaken for a small animal. Along the forest line on the north side of the island.
Box of Memory Tapes - Comedy’s box of memory tapes, still tucked away in their hut. Though some Passengers may have noticed them seeming rather jumbled earlier, they seem to have been put back in a more orderly fashion.

Comedy’s Tools - Hidden under some of the floor thatching in the hut is a strange “splice-o-matic” tool and some kind of very small projector that looks like it could accept VHS strips. It all looks like it’s been here far longer than you have.
Hoop Tree - A palm tree towards the southern part of the forest, with a crooked trunk that almost forms a whole loop. A few more coconuts that you’d expect are lying near the base, slightly damaged.
Beach Rocks - Along the whole length of the beach are some corally rocks that more than one of you have accidentally stepped on barefoot. They’re all rather grey but vary in size from pebbles to chunks the size of a person’s hand.
Treevee (Fenna) - An ordinary treevee a decent distance north of either crime scene. Fenna was watching her tape here during the body discovery. Ejecting the tape clearly shows a label with her name on it and enough film on one reel to have been partly watched through.
Footprints (Fenna) - Fenna’s heeled footprints lead from the shore to where she’s sitting in front of her treevee when the investigators find her.

Leaving the second of two (2) crime scenes to seek out Comedy’s hut, you passed by an oddly-shaped tree with a little loop in its trunk. It might look familiar to one of you…

When you got to the little shack, it looked relatively undisturbed. The tapes belonging to the current passengers sat in a now neatly organized box. A hammock swayed in the corner, with some personal belongings piled underneath. There wasn’t much room in the hut for anything else.

Well! That was a weirdly shaped tree but Abel didn’t notice anything about it.

Arriving at Comedy’s hut Abel was disappointed to see nothing too interesting. He does know he was… literally just here but. What if he’d missed something? What if something happened while he was gone? Either way-

Okay, great, that is still absolutely not out of Melvin’s system but it’s all internal now that team Very Normal It’s Fine is moving away from all the icky death stuff. And towards the shack, with a frankly far more interesting tree along the way. But they can circle back to that later.

Since Abel’s got the tapes handled, he’s just going to… stand there awkwardly for a moment before trying to make himself useful, poking through the pile of stuff under that hammock.

Comedy doesn’t seem to have much to their name. There’s a change of clothes, a pocketknife, a teddy bear… Hm? It seems like the woven mats on the floor are a bit uneven under Melvin’s feet.

Abel Lazarus

Abel comes over to poke around with Melvin. He does sort of look at him being…. Totally normal or whatever- but he mostly just silently continues moving things around in Comedy’s stuff. He contemplates taking the clothes- Comedy’s not around to miss them anymore exactly- but. No. He won’t. They’re ugly clothes anyway.

Dexter Blanche

Oh hey guys! Photo boy is here too!

“Oh hey!” He says, his demeanor apparently not having changed despite 2 bodies being discovered. “What have we got here?”

Jeez, was he always here? Or does he have a talent for skulking around. Whatever, he’s a part of your investigation troupe now, whether you like it or not.

“Kind of a shame what happened, I wasn’t expecting this guy to get offed too… but hey! Free hammock, I suppose.”

He advances, now sitting on the hammock, looking down. “Its a deserted island… Truthfully, I worry that there won’t be much here to discover. Its not as if we have forensic tools, after all.”

He tuts, a little sigh, and swings in the hammock slightly. He won’t let this “murder” business get him down though. Melvin’s new mat (I mean, he is standing on it, thats as good as claiming it, right?) looks a little lumpy…

Dexter decides to make himself useful and try and shoo Melvin away for a moment, looking at what treasures could be hidden under the mat.

Abel blinks hard at the projector and the splice tool. Seriously? Whatever. Very cool Comedy.

“Well. Nothing about the tapes is different from earlier. A number are missing but I’m guessing not everyone found returning them a priority.” At least he knows the fates of a few tapes.

“Should we take them just in case any might be relevant?” Certainly he wouldn’t want his own watched by the group but he could deal if there was evidence in the others. Probably.

Regardless, though, he gives the hut another glance over to see if anything catches his eye enough to check it out. Perhaps they’re done here?

Yeah they’re done, nothing else of great importance in the hut. Comedy appears to have led a simple life, if nothing else.

Before scouting out the rest of the island, they double back to the strange tree…

Ah the tree. Oh how I loathe thee.

Kidding. Abel doesn’t have strong opinions on trees. Certainly palm trees are familiar as a general thing- not just because of the days on the island but also because they exist back home.

How lovely. He’s sure something has to be up with it if it’s being pointed out to their… new investigation group that he… hadn’t intended to accidentally be apart of. Something something more heads something something better than one. At least he knows Melvin is easy to bribe into things and Dexter is useful. Especially if Fenna’s hurt.

But yeah. The tree. He might as well look the tree over and make sure this isn’t a waste of their time.

Melvin Greene

Yeah, the moment Dexter starts shooing him out of the way is the moment Melvin remembers he really should just be leaving this to the… closer things they have to professionals in the vicinity. Just stay out of their way and stick around in case they need him to reach something high up or whatever. Since Abel’s still got a bad shoulder and Dexter is over a foot shorter than both of them, if that Specific Circumstance turns up, at least he’ll be able to say he did something.

Wowie that sure is a funny looking tree. With a few beat up looking coconuts. He takes a good long look at them and the tree, staring for a bit longer than was probably really necessary.

“………. Weird. Should we just move on or whatever?”

Don’t worry Melvin! Abel has arbitrarily decided he’s in charge even though there’s no particular reason for him to be. He’s just full of himself a little bit.

Abel takes a good look at the banged up coconuts and writes something down in his notebook. I keep forgetting they have these but BOY does Abel remember them! He probably has notes about everything in this thing. Those coconuts do look. A little familiar. Not EXACTLY these coconuts but more… What’s wrong with them.

“Yeah- I’m not sure anything else is up with this tree. We should check the shore next.” He gives Melvin one of the coconuts. Partially to keep the evidence to show people and… partially just to give him a task.

He thinks it’s a little funny. But honestly Abel…. Now is not the time for this.

Dexter Blanche

“Maaayyybbeee they were playing some kind of sport, or game! The hoop is vertical, so you could try throwing coconuts through it! Like the ancient ball game of Mesoamerica! I suppose its as good of a passtime as any!”

Cheery as he always is, he picks up a coconut and tries hucking it through the hoop. Its dark though, so he misses. Aw.

“Hmm… The shore’s a good of a place as any now. Maybe the killer tried throwing some evidence to the ocean to try and hide it? I doubt they’d have had the time to bury it; that fire was very conspicuous!”

He shakes his head, following the group to the beach.

Melvin Greene Almost effortlessly, even being a bit further away than Dexter was, he tosses the coconut Abel just handed him though the loop of the tree’s trunk.

The ba– I mean coconut sails effortlessly through the loop and hits the ground with a thump and a slight crack.

Along the island’s western shore, the group finds little of interest on the beach or off it.

Dexter Blanche “Hmm… The shore’s a good of a place as any now. Maybe the killer tried throwing some evidence to the ocean to try and hide it?"

Following the shoreline, Dexter has yet to come across any discarded evidence, but he does accidentally kick a few rocks embedded in the sand.

As you head north, the more observant of you may have noticed something on the ground back towards the forest. Something smallish, low to the ground, and… white? It’s impossible to tell what it is from a distance.

Melvin looks rather confused and maybe a little bit nervous(???) when Abel hands him the ball- COCONUT IT’S JUST A COCONUT. Then again, Dexter not-so-clearly had the same idea. It takes him a moment to figure out what the little camera man is on about.

“… lotta words to say basketball.” he mutters under his breath, before Dexter fails to Ball. All apprehension falls off his face, replaced with something bordering on offended that someone could be that bad both at identifying and playing the sacred sport of Basket Balls. They’re probably saying something else important but in the name of Spaced Jams, this cannot stand.

“Probably more like that, don’t you think?”

… He’ll go pick it back up before they leave for the shore, assuming Abel tells him to.

“Melvin.” He looks Disappointed.

“You Threw the evidence? Go pick that back up.” You’re getting bossed around Melvin. “Honestly…”
