After his conversation with Melvin, Vinzent was now off to do whatever stupid “duty” he had to do.

… At least that’s the way it should be!

Unfortunately, life had other plans for him. The plans? Viper herself, who seemed to come to his way on her segway.

Oh no, no, no. Not her.

Her whole actions in the trial aren’t forgotten and hardly forgivable. And they’re both stuck on the segway. Damn it. Relying on his normal as hell reflexes, Vinzent surprinsgly managed to handle it very well despite having never used the dumb way of transportation. Now was it going fast? Well, debatable. Since Vinzent wasn’t sure how exactly it worked, but he did try to get away from her. As if he wants her company! He was still mad at her! For her actions! And for how much she seemed to like Jack over everyone else!

Go away!!!

It would be only a matter of time before Viper will catch up to him, if she manages to do so.

… Vinzent sighted.

In a way, it was Vinzent’s entire fault that he was being pursued by her. She’d wanted to talk to him, you know, normally, but as Vinzent started fleeing her, she made chase very quickly.

“…Vinzent! Get back here! Don’t run from me!” She’s trying so hard to catch up to him. It definitely looks absolutely ridiculous to literally anyone witnessing it. She’s even doing her peak gamer tactic and leaning forward to get optimal aerodynamics.

“Why are you running?!”

Maybe it was his fault! But again, did he want to talk to her? No! So he had his reasons!

“No, absolutely not!”

Maybe thankfully despite his middling reflexes, Vinzent didn’t have to physically run while talking at the same time. That would be draining as opposed to handling a ridiculous item without the need to run literally.

… Or maybe he should have run with his legs, he’s a pretty good runner, but being confined to the segway… Well! He does what he can, huh!

Anyway… It was about time to tell her the truth, of which he’s been holding back. He yelled back at her, which could be overheard by other people. There was clear annoyance and anger in his tone.

“I don’t want to talk to someone who’s willing to ditch everyone else she called friends just to befriend and pamper an asshole who killed and stole multiple times already! You’ve hurt me and many others people with your choices. And you did break my trust twice. I don’t see why I should talk to you.”

Does she get it now? Or will she be stubborn? Vinzent didn’t really care either way. It was eating him away, so if he could let it out that way… Maybe it’d be better. Anyway. Stop chasing him. (Or don’t, knowing Viper. 🥰 )

Viper

And stop she won’t. Viper doesn’t simply… give up. As much as the consequences of her actions hardly occurring to her before, the last car had given her some time to… reflect. To realise that some people had been hurt by her behaviour, but would that truly, seriously stop her? Probably not. Judging by the fact she’s still chasing Vinzent down, desperate to actually get to him and talk to him.

“Wha-!” She sounds offended that Vinzent could think that about her. “…I didn’t ditch anyone! I’m like, capable of having more than one friend? Like. Yeah…Jack ain’t a good guy! But I ain’t jus’ gonna ditch him! I stole too, ‘s that make me jus’ the same?!” Viper is bristling so visibly, and she’s equally gaining on him.

Annoying! ANNOYING!

That’s what she is. Viper did have a point on having more than one friend, and that Vinzent didn’t have a problem! It was with who she befriends that Vinzent has beef with.

“The problem! Is! Not! Having more friends! Jack f-cking sucks! And he’s a criminal who doesn’t have intention in getting better! He’s just causing problems to everyone! I hate his f-cking guts! You both stole, sure, but did you murder too? Or not?”

He hoped she didn’t or else he’d definitely take his distance further. Somewhere he hoped Viper wasn’t stepping this low. But still. That was…

If Viper wanted people to see good in Jack? Well that was Jack’s problem! Because honestly, he did NOT make Vinzent’s life easier and especially not more trustful of him. F*ck that!

… At least she acknowledged Jack’s not a good guy. But why is she wanting to befriend him so bad? Vinzent still.. Didn’t understand that.

The further he tried to get away, the more awkward this looked, to the point he did a bad maneuver that got him to almost fall on the floor.

… That was close. At least for now, he slowed down.

“I’m a f-ckin’ criminal too, damn it!” Viper snaps, also more than a little grateful for the fact she wasn’t having to run this- or she’d have lost him ages ago by now. “Maybe, jus’ f-ckin’ maybe, I want someone who could even try ’n understand me! I ain’t killed anyone though!” …But she basically has somewhere down the line, she’s sure of that. Her actions have certainly led to unintentional death before.

Viper swerved to avoid a group of ball-denizens, following after Vinzent so relentlessly even now, until she could keep almost neck-and-neck with him.

“Just- stop and talk to me????????” Why is he running!

She has a point! But it wasn’t f-cking murder!!!

“I am trying to understand you but you’re not making it EASY. AT ALL.”

He hoped she told the truth, but who knows anymore. It’s hard to trust someone like Viper who’s so flippant in her choices. And despite Viper’s request to him to stop, Vinzent didn’t want to honor that.

“Hrgh-”

He sped up, intentionally trying to not talk to her until he slammed headfirst in a wall. Normally, he’d be off his segway after such a hit on his face, but for some unknown reason (plot), he was still on the stupid thing, and a bloodied nose that he’s trying to stop. Except that it was flowing, a bit.

“F-ck… Sh-t….”

At least, it seemed he stopped attempting to escape Viper now…? Not like he had a choice now anymore, especially with the injury he has gotten by himself.

“I’m pretty goddamn simple!” Viper, the hypocritical, silly, loser says. She was still following Vinzent, of course, but came to a skidding halt when he crashed into the wall. It was hella funny, but she barely managed to keep it together enough not to start openly cackling. But then she saw the fact his nose was bleeding, and she just…

“Yeesh- I think ya gotta re-do ya Segway trainin’!” She grimaced, holding her tie out to him after she quickly un-knotted it from her hair. “…Now ya got a bloody nose and ya didn’t even get anywhere.” She nods at the tie, showing more clearly he was meant to use it like a tissue.

Viper, this could mean many things.

At the segway training comment, Vinzent groans, still in pain.

“I hate these f-cking things, they’re useless. And stupid. Why won’t they let me run on my actual legs instead?”

His need for pride within himself got him to nearly refuse Viper’s help with the tie… He REALLY considered turning it down, but… He didn’t have anything else, and while it would be funny to bleed more on the stupid cop uniform he wore… It wasn’t the best idea in the end.

And he felt dizzy, even if he knew it was his own blood. Urgh, fine.

“F-ckin’… Thanks…” The latter part was quieter but, he finally swallowed up his bitterness and accepted the tie, to try to stop his nose bleeding. It was still better than nothing in the end.

Oh, it means at least two definitions of the word ‘simple’, I assure you.

“Hey, it’s like, totally a good way ta get around if ya ain’t drivin’ inta walls.” Viper couldn’t resist the little jab, but she’d seemed to have calmed down to her relatively normal self. As unfortunate as that may be. Her ability to simply ping back so easily may be one of her biggest downfalls.

“Gives ya a feelin’ of power when ya drive ‘em inta a store. Ball-people start movin’ outta the way. Pretty f-ckin’ cool.” It’s almost as if she just forgot why she had been following Vinzent to begin with, and why he’d been fleeing.

Vinzent hissed at the little jab, but whatever, it’s not like he didn’t cause it himself.

“Hilarious.” His tone was so flat, he simply didn’t have the energy.

“Is it the same with me or…? Why did you want to see me anyway?”

Honestly, he was a little miffed if it was going to be the case. Yes, he hated these dumb ball people and especially that ball cop, but… Why is it power again with Viper? What’s the fun in that…? He didn’t get it.

Not that sometimes he had dreamed gaining power to get back at people he hated. But as if it’ll work. He is sure that he won’t be able to, ever. Unless luck smiled at him once in a while.

“I mean, I wanted ta know why ya were runnin’ from me at first, but liiiiike… I also wanted ta jus’ talk ta ya? I ain’t gotta have a reason for everythin’ I do, right? We’re on tha same team! We gotta work ta’gether.” Viper was definitely just… power-hungry and weird, and said combination was a recipe for disaster. Perhaps a little too reminiscent of the typical bad cops you see in those cop dramas.

“Wanna go ta the food court? I’m like, soooo hungry.” She hadn’t eaten in forever. Almost on cue, her stomach growls, and loud. Once more, she has little to no trace of anger or aggression toward Vinzent. “Besides, ya prob need ta eat somethin’ or whatever after ya lost that much blood.” It was like hardly anything, Viper.

“I wasn’t looking forward to talk to you. But. Fine.” He sounded resigned over the idea of having to get along with Viper that soon. But she was right, they’re unfortunately on the same team. Damn it.

“Yeah. I’d like that. I haven’t had a proper meal in a long while.” And his stomach also growled. Mostly? Vinzent was just tired and a little in pain still from his stupid accident.

… Was it that much? Nah.

“I mean… I didn’t lose liters of blood. I’d still like to eat something, but uh… I’m not about to faint. Don’t worry.”

And… It was his own blood, which he would cope with. Small quantities wouldn’t get him queasy that easily. Anyone else’s blood in small quantites? Also fine-ish. The amount lost for example in that Jack and Viper fight back on the island? That was too much.

“… Let’s get something then, I guess.”

Most of all, Vinzent was resigned. They’re on the same team, he didn’t have much choice. So as long as he’s avoiding Jack.

Viper

“Oh, ya, no, I, like, get it.” Viper waves her hand in the most, like, totally obnoxious bitchy valley-girl way. “I was like- totally being a lame-ass binch.” Perhaps she’s had time to actually reflect and change being in the same car wash car as RNA and Asuka? Or perhaps she’s just trying to damage control for her own sake. It isn’t much of an apology or confession to being a sh-thead but it was something.

But hey, Vinzent agreed to go and get food with her, and so she gladly led the charge on their glorious wheeled vehicles. As they wheeled together toward the food court, she glanced over her shoulder as she asked-

“Soooo, any preferences? What kind of food do ya wanna get? I’m like, totes not picky.” She’s further enforcing her puppy girl behaviour by eating literally anything given to her, huh.

At… At least she was aware? But indeed it wasn’t much, but it was something.

“… Okay.”

Vinzent followed her, this time decently wheeling along. He was trying to think what he would like right now… Anything with meat or something would be good. Hmm… Yeah.

“Uhh I’m down with anything? I don’t have any dietary restrictions.” He cringed at saying this. But it was true.

“If there’s something a little spicy, I’d like that. Been a while. But I guess anything that’s at least a sandwich is fine.”

Now for the quality of food… Well, that’ll be seen if Vinzent will add up with more sauce, spices or nothing. So as long as he eats something.

Viper

“Cool! Glad we’re both on the same page!” Viper was also just as glad to eat whatever came her way. She spotted a place that seemed good. Chipotle… she didn’t eat a lot of American food outside of the basics, but she had heard good things!

Viper wasted little time in ordering herself way more food than it seemed like she would physically be able to eat, but with no idea when the next food car was coming? She had to stock up. Once she was… adequately seated with her food, she began scarfing it down at top speed.

“Oh, it always tastes better on an empty stomach…” She mumbled through a mouthful. She definitely needed to stockpile some snacks too while they were here…

Vinzent Mayer

Chipotle… Not a name he has heard of. Must be American then. The most known restaurants he definitely remembers are the ones that made it internationally. But again, it’s been extremely limited in his country, and it’s not typical of him to seek out these chains unless something piqued his curiousity.

Because he could usually find local cheap eat than the chains. And he thinks it’s much better than what the chains offer.

… Anyway, might as well check out what this restaurant offers! Burritos… Perhaps a little too much for now… Tacos, however, he’ll be down to take some! So, once he requested the tacos the way he wanted (while still feeling guilty for getting it for free.), he sat down as well. His part was reasonable, unlike Viper’s abnormal amount.

Wow, Viper must have been really hungry, or… Still that was. uh. Okay. Vinzent had a bite of the tacos and he found it was surprinsingly yummy! But maybe nothing to write home about. He doesn’t know why. As Viper spoke, (with her mouth full, which. Why though.), he nodded. It’s been a while since he had a proper meal. IKEA food, I miss you.

“It’s good, yeah.”

Still, he made sure to finish his plate at his own pace. There’s definitely some other food options he’d like to check while he can still use the advantage. Free food opportunity is a rarity now.

He misses homemade food, that was the best.

Apologies to Vinzent for her terrible manners, but she does enjoy a little bit of talking with her mouth full from time to time. She does, at least, swallow a big mouthful before she continues talking this time, though.

“…Soooo…decided how ya gonna handle talkin’ ta Abes after that?” Viper. VIPER. “…I ain’t really sure how ta feel ’bout Su-chan. I kinda… tried, but they’re jus’ bein’ same ol’ Su-chan…” Viper pokes at her food a little rather suddenly. Perhaps her way of addressing it was hamfisted, but there is some genuine concern behind her words, and she does actually seem invested in what Vinzent has to say on the matter.

“I dunno. Maybe I’m just a sh-tty person who’s never gonna change.”

Viper Apologies to Vinzent for her terrible manners, but she does enjoy a little bit of talking with her mouth full from time to time.

Sighs. She really does care, or…? Again, he hated how she guessed that.

“… Yes. I’ve already written an apology letter. And drawn him a portrait of himself. I’ll hand it to him when I’ll see him and we will see what happens. That’s all I’ll say on that matter. For the rest… That’ll be on me, I suppose. I still feel like I’ve messed up big time.”

Su-chan…

“Matsu, you mean? I haven’t talked to them enough to guess what their train of thoughts is.” Oh, so Viper is interested in Matsu. Okay. Anyway. Either it’s been a while since he learned that. Or he just found out now. Anyway, back to be casual.

“You do tend to fall back on your sh-tty habits, I find, yes. And I’m not sure why, really. I find it really hard to understand you, if I’m being honest. You do one thing now but then do a completely opposite thing the next time… I… Don’t like that, honestly.”

He sighed but held back from saying more for now.

“…Sounds like as good’a solution as any!” Viper scarfs down another mouthful of her food, and begins making quick progress on eating it once more. It was already starting to seem like she’d actually be able to finish this disproportionate amount of food she’d ordered.

Vinzent Mayer “Matsu, you mean? I haven’t talked to them enough to guess what their train of thoughts is.”

“I mean. Like, I know’em well ’nuff that I think they definitely think I hate ’em now.” …Whose fault was that? Her own! This is the fact that makes her a lot more upset about it, and very much so. It was hard to come to terms with the fact that it was her own fault that she was in this predicament.

Still… He did appreciate how Viper still cared about his relationship with Abel. Since he did tell her about that before. Sincerely? Vinzent wants it to work. With his meal done, he was content to just be laid back and chill until they part ways. Then he’ll definitely look for Abel right after.
