Perhaps browsing books while atop a high-up ladder wasn’t the best idea when there was an iminent threat of someone knocking something over or actively trying to kill someone. The thud makes her jump enough that she has to scrabble to grip onto the ladder tighter so she doesn’t fall to her embarrassing death. Viper figures, however, she should probably go and see if there was a murder for her to witness. Because that sure didn’t sound like just books falling.
Scarpering down the ladder a little more awkwardly than she’d climbed up it, she’s quick to scurry around searching for the source of the noise, and then she spots some familiar orange heading in the direction of said thud and decides to follow Abel. Whether she sees Vinzent on her way by or not is unclear, because if she does, she’s actually capable of not acknowledging him and starting to argue with him again.
But as she nears where Abel had stopped, she sees Jack on the floor and her eyes widen-
“Ugh- Jeez- Why’d he jus’…” Viper grumbles, but she’s certainly concerned about him. She knew Jack didn’t take care of himself, that much was clear… but for him to just straight-up pass out in something that could have been dangerous? What an idiot, honestly.
“Hey- Abel-” She greets a little awkwardly once she shuffles the rest of the books out of Jack’s arms, and instead looks back at him. She can be nosey in a minute. Giving Jack a quick once-over for injuries, she shakes her head and sighs. “…Could at least be a little more comfortable. Dunno how long he’s gonna be out…” It’s mostly said to herself, this time. Whilst she knows Jack is probably far too used to sleeping in the most unconventional, uncomfortable places… she shrugs off her own bag, before slipping her sweater out and bunching it up to make a sort of… makeshift pillow.
Abel and Vinzent’s presence is forgotten about as she focuses instead on shifting Jack around. His bag is taken from his shoulder, gently laid to his side as she struggles somewhat to lug him into a more comfortable position. Some books are stacked a little awkwardly to make some kind of support for the sweater-pillow, and Viper lays Jack’s head against it. She then reaches for her coat- tucked away into her backpack due to her change of clothes, and lays it across him. There’s something sweet about watching her so carefully tuck her coat under Jack to keep him at least marginally more comfortable. But probably weird for both of the others witnessing her doing this.
Viper’s conversation with Jagal was… something, alright. Seemed she had a better prediction of Jack as a person, and so she wanted to make an effort.
Once satisfied Jack was marginally more comfortable, she turned finally to Abel and the books.
“…Huh. Wonder why he was holdin’ on’ta these so determinedly.” Not addressing that entire thing unless asked? Okay Viper. But she had a pretty good prediction as to what these books were. After all, Abel had already released two of her most hated Lazari in the library. She had yet to find her own book at this stage, but she was sure it would be equally as messed up.
She reaches for the thickest book, Elucia Hayat. Viper wastes no time opening it to view the contents.
