That wording might come across as slightly dismissive, but he doesn’t sound annoyed or anything. That’s just how he talks. Vinzent is probably used to it, although it might not be the best thing for his mood right now. Far as Melvin sees it, that’s a step towards not having to deal with all the tricky emotional bullshit anymore. Still not exactly selfless, but results are results.
While indeed not the best thing for his mood… It surprinsingly didn’t affect Vinzent all that much in the moment. He just really needed to let it out. (Only a matter of time before he spirals down in more emotional bullshit in another thread but shhh.)

“I also don’t try fighting people either, promise.” Why would he punch Haruka!!! Let her be. Or in this case of beefing, Viper. Though, it was more because he is fully aware she has a goddamn knife and he isn’t trying anything dumb with that information in mind (FOR NOW). But by god is he annoyed.
Melvin Greene He’ll simply convince himself they totally would have killed each other in that situation which therefore meant it was only out of necessity instead of something gross like, say, not wanting either of them to get hurt.

He’d been the one to set Vinzent off in the first place. It was still a net worsening of his condition on that front - someone can’t seem to accept he might actually be doing something helpful despite that.
“It’s still something, c’mon. Don’t deny it. But yeah, I’ll go see Haruka then. And uh… Even if you did set me off unintentionally… I still punched the wall so. I could have not done that. Y’know. Anyway… I think that’s still good that you didn’t let my hand bleed like the idiot I am. Be right there.”
… He’s going to actually go to the bathroom quick (not to piss off Viper on purpose, but he knows he would hardly get another chance because heehoo, she has the button and the power to decide, so he isn’t wasting the opportunity right now).
Thankfully, it didn’t take long, then he washed his hands. Haruka will fix up the injury better, this is temporary. Then he can tolerate another string of bullshit waiting he supposes, until Viper decides to push the button again. If only he had the button, then he wouldn’t be as much of a dick as she is. Vinzent figured it was that stupid power trip that’s just a waste of time, but he doesn’t know how to call her out on that.
Anyway.

He waves at the man before leaving the bathroom and pointedly ignoring the woman. Don’t say anything, it’s just not worth it.
