Melvin Greene “That isn’t what I meant.” This girl had a real annoying habit of twisting completely different meaning out of words. “Just seemed real obvious at the time it had to be someone who was already dangerous.” Jack. Viper. Hell, Abel might have had a stick wedged well up there but he was part of fight club too, right? He could go on the list of people who seemed more likely to snap and do a major murder first. Jack kind of also super did kill someone and he was still just hanging out with them oh god “Not someone I actually- not someone like Fenna.”
She absolutely does, and she can’t help but be a little smug about it, rolling her eyes as though Melvin were merely now changing his tune to save face. Unfortunately, he also has half of a good point there. “I mean, Jack also did kill. But like…Why? Anybody can be dangerous. I mean, most people think I just run my mouth and can’t throw a punch. They normally end up in a lot of pain~” The little snicker that follows completely ruins any point Asuka is trying to make. “It kind of just sounds like you didn’t want it to be her. Which is fair - but, like…. Just admit it? I wish it wasn’t Fenna dead considering the freakshow here, but she did what she did.”
Melvin Greene She didn’t, uh… ‘explode a bitch’ on purpose. And I’m not saying what she did was good or anything, but. At least she had a good reason for it.”
There’s a pause, Asuka just blinking at Melvin as she processes that. For some reason, she had assumed the two of them would be 100% on the same page. “…Wow, murder apologist much?” It’s not the most eloquent reply, but it’ll have to do for the moment. “She did have a good reason, sure, but like…She still very much exploded a bitch, and it could have been worse, all things considered. She lucked out.” Asuka does have the decency to actually look somewhat serious, despite her phrasing. “…Her son was pretty lucky.”
She’s not even sure what she really, actually wants to say. She stares at Melvin awkwardly, as though she can force him to do as she’d please, before looking at her own feet. Again, much better than actually sorting out her thoughts.
Melvin Greene “Probably doesn’t help that you keep calling people freaks, y’know.” Asuka is someone who he finds incredibly tiresome to deal with. This is still, in the grand scheme of things, a step up from Jack the Ripper and company. He sighs. “I really don’t know what you’re getting at here. Is this you trying to be nice? ’Cause it doesn’t feel like it.”
“…But I’m being nice? I’m…I’m not trying to start a fight, or seriously insulting anybody. How is that not being nice?” The fact it’s said so genuinely, with that much confusion, is both sad and horrifying. She still refuses to look at Melvin as she speaks. “You were being normal. I don’t get you, but, like…Whatevs. I was trying to be nice and compliment you! Because everybody got super intense for no reason, and I thought they’d tear each other apart! Meanwhile you just…didn’t make it weird or personal.” It’s the best explanation she’s got.
