It’s definitely strange, to see Viper so shaken up. So small, and helpless. She hugs Abel’s jacket around herself, pushing her face into the fabric and hiccuping softly as she focuses on taking deep, gulping breaths. Yeah, maybe she has thought a little about how hypocritical it was after they did snoop into Jagal’s life, but that was different, that probably wouldn’t get him killed! Even if he did know, he’d probably forget! And she had done good and taken care of him while he slept, so that made it a little better. Yeah, totally different.
His soothing words help, because as she focuses on breathing and calming down her heart rate, her shoulders eventually go a little more slack and she leans into him, still effectively snuggled up into his suit jacket. There’s still a degree of wild panic on her face, her pupils still dilated, but her breathing has evened out considerably. She fumbles for Abel’s hand, wanting something to hold to ground herself more.
“T-Thank you-” She starts, swallowing when her voice still shakes, trying to remedy it.
“I— He… came to me, saying he… wanted to apologise. For… how he had been… but he let it. Slip that, like, he…” Pause. Breathe. “Had tried to… ‘understand me more’ and… had been… ‘learning’ about… me,” She’s doing a lot better at talking.
“And I know that means… he was snooping. He- I don’t know… who he talked to- but… he knows- something I feel- unsafe with him knowing- I can, like, tell.”
